Environmental Values- recycle – reuse – save the planet
Anybody that knows me, knows I’m passionate about saving money where I can. Some may say its tightness, but I’d say it's making the most out of what you have and reusing where possible.
So, I thought I would share one of my top tips that are guaranteed to save you money! Plus, there's many reasons behind my madness, trust me! Anyway, here goes…
Repurpose Candles
Picture this... you've put all the effort into designing your dream setting for your wedding, and your day as come and gone. Now your left with a bunch of candles, what to do with them? You could gift them to some of your guests to take home as a memorabilia of your special day and obviously it would be rude not to keep one for yourself. Or on the flip side, you may be the receiver of a beautiful candle.
You hold off burning it as you really don't want to ruin it and the thought of it ending up in the bin is just awful, so what do you do?
You light the bloody candle!!!
It's not an ornament, it as a purpose, it smells amazing!
Once the poor thing as had it's time and burnt out, it's time to give it a new purpose, a new role in your home and a new lease of life!
Step 1
Scrape out the excess wax.
Step 2
Dip your sponge into some hot soapy water and give the inside of the candle a good scrub. Be careful not to wet the vinyl on the outside and whatever you do, DO NOT soak the container (the vinyl used to decorate the candle is brill but will not withstand a soak).
Step 3
Once cleaned and dried out, get yourself some tea-light candles. You can get these from your local supermarket or quid shop, so they're super cheap and they tend to come in packs of 50 and if you're lucky you can get scented ones too!
Pop your tea-light into the container and ta dah you have yourself a repurposed tea-light holder!
Psss...
Be Creative- Get the kids involved and learn them valuable life skills. Besides, it gets them away from the screens for a little while!
