ROCK SLATES

Rock slate is a fine-grained, foliated metamorphic rock that's developed from the change of existing rocks, known as a process, called metamorphism of mudstone or shale. In the UK the main slate mining region is located in Wales. However, 90% of slate used within Europe is said to be sourced from Spain.

Traditionally slate is used within the building sector to build roofs and floors as it’s a good fireproof material. Today slate as many other uses including; cladding, tiling inside the home and making countertops in the kitchen, in addition many crafters have opt for this kind resource to make beautiful decorative products such as our photo slates. Many deem slate to be popular due to its natural and diverse appearance and incredible durability.
